Replacement Felt Gasket KitsReplacement Nomex gasket kits are available for all of the EGGs. They come with easy to follow directions and enough self-adhesive gasket material to cover the rim of both the Lid and the Base. The gasket material will melt at 1500F so be sure and pay attention during high-temperature cooking.~Only replace gasket on a completely cooled Big Green Egg.~Remove the old gasket with a flat-edged scraper. Clean the rim of the base and lid with acetone (preferred) or rubbing alcohol. If necessary, soak any remaining gasket material with acetone and scrape away. Let dry for at least 30 minutes; the surface must be totally clean for the new gasket to adhere.~Spray a small amount of spray adhesive around the rim of the base and lid. Allow this to set for about 2 minutes to become tacky.~Press the gasket firmly down onto the rim. Bend the gasket around the rim as you press down, being careful not to let the gasket material to hang over the inside edge of the rim. Do not stretch the gasket; there is ample material for the tope and bottom rim of your EGG. Allow gasket to cure for 24 hours with the lid closed before using your EGG. If your gasket should loosen, you can glue it back on with Elmer's glue or other household adhesive.~To improve longevity, keep gasket clean of any food or sauce drippings.
